What we've done in the Beye community so far this year
The PTO has already been very busy this year! Take a look below at what we've accomplished in the first two trimesters of school year 24-25, but please keep in mind, we can't do this without your support: to date, we've raised $22,995 while spending $29,720 on the programs below. This spring brings the Plant Sale, Fun Fair, Bobcat Bolt and a second Parents' Night Out. We hope to see you supporting the Beye community at these events and hope you'll consider making a donation below.
Playground Improvements: PTO volunteers repaired the little house on the playground with materials funded by the PTO and ordered an accessible swing, to be installed soon. A Gaga Pit will also be ordered once snow season is over - this is budgeted for, but not yet included in our expenses.
Assemblies: All Beye students had the opportunity to enjoy the Storm Science assembly, Opera for the Young, and a virtual Black History Month assembly. Students in 2nd-5th grade were invited to participate in PTO-sponsored Spelling Bees.
Grants: The PTO has given out over $4,500 for classroom supplies and enrichment to teachers and staff through our annual grant program. The PTO has also provided subscriptions to either Time for Kids or Scholastic News to every Beye student in grades K-2.
Community events: The PTO has hosted the Parent Coffee on the first day of school, the Back to School Picnic, Math Night, the Turkey Trot, and the Dia de Los Muertos, Lunar New Year, and Black History Month celebrations.
Birthday Books: School Librarian, Mr. Withers, asked the PTO for funds to start a new program this year where he chooses a new book to gift to every Beye student on their birthday. The PTO is thrilled to fund this and celebrate all of our Bobcats while fostering a love of reading.
Curriculum Night Babysitting: The PTO provided babysitting services during Curriculum Night as a convenience for parents.
One Book, One District: While the school district provides a copy of the One Book, One District text for all students, it does not provide them to teachers and staff. Beye School PTO steps in to fill this gap, purchasing copies of this year's book for all building staff and teachers who would like one.
Teacher Conference Meals: The PTO provided our teachers and staff with lunch during the Fall and Spring Parent-Teacher conferences.
The Great Apple Crunch: The PTO supplied apples to every Beye student for the Great Apple Crunch, celebrating healthy eating.
Repairs to the Food Pantry: The PTO funded materials to replace the doors to the Beye Food Pantry, allowing us to keep food and other supplies accessible to those in our community who need them.
First Grade Garden/Green Team: The PTO provided supplies to refurbish the First Grade Garden as well as providing supplies to the Green Team.
Assistance for students and families: The PTO used equity funds provided by a local non-profit to provide a Beye student with crucial supplies, as well as to make sure that all students eligible for free and reduced lunch received vouchers to the Fall and Spring book fairs, and that families eligible for free and reduced lunch are offered complimentary tickets to fundraising community events such as Parents' Nights Out and the Pancake Breakfast.
Administrative costs: The PTO has also used funds to pay for our website, subscribe to Konstella, our communication platform, renew our annual insurance policy, and pay to print the Beye Directory.
...And so much MORE! Volunteer today or head to a meeting to get involved. Our next meeting will be held Wednesay, March 19th, at 7 pm in the library.
